Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association
Welcome to the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association! Justice and Kieran persevered last night and created these two awesome mini swales to collect rainwater for the Edible Boulevard. Mulch is still coming, but they’re almost there! We are so excited to have you sharing fruit with our neighbors.

Southside Green Zone
The Southside Green Zone participants have been on a roll this past week as we welcome another new Minneapolis Edible Boulevards member and their volunteers. You may know a couple of these folks from the neighborhood! So excited to see what will grow yet this year and get some perennials going for years to come.

Another Southside Edible Boulevard
Welcome to another Southside Edible Boulevard! Sunday was the perfect temperature for having family and friends help plant the garden. Can you guess which young person was making sure we all got a doughnut if we wanted one? It was way too cute!

And now a shoutout to our first Southside garden of 2023! We're so happy to have you join us! Again, please stop by to say hello if you're out and about and see our participants. Also, we're grateful to have Lucy as our Southside intern this summer, learning how to do raised beds with David Kenedy and in-ground gardens with Kieran Morris. Thanks to our team, she'll be the one doing the mentoring real soon.

Welcome to our third Edible Boulevards family of 2023! Our participant is an amazing artist and educator who creates art on the rings of trees. One such piece of art was created for the land acknowledgment participants are encouraged to prepare before the garden creation. Very powerful!
Also acknowledging Northside student intern, Justus. whom we've been lucky to have working with 2023 Northside instructors’ Thressa Foster and Clifton Williams. Grateful for fresh produce access and community coming together in North Minneapolis!

Welcome to our second Minneapolis Edible Boulevards garden for 2023! If you are out and about and see one of our signs and a participant, please stop and introduce yourself. Let’s grow our community and our health together!

Welcome to our first 2023 Minneapolis Edible Boulevard at Heritage Park Neighborhood Association. We're so happy you joined us in sharing the fruit with community with your skills and the garden!
2022 GARDENS
From the Edible Boulevard and Hugelkultur that was created with the Growing North Minneapolis Step-Up youth at Oak Park Center to a raised bed in Midtown Phillips, it was a wonderful summer of creating Edible Boulevards. Thank you to Patsy Parker for being our raised bed instructor this year!
2021 GARDENS
July 28, 2021
Yesterday was a busy day for Edible Boulevards! In the morning, one of the participating families in East Phillips learned how to create their edible boulevard garden from the youth and staff at Growing North Minneapolis. Even their cats got in on the action! Then last night we created our very first edible boulevard in the Hawthorne neighborhood on the Northside. We love being able to partner with the folks at Celestial Garden who bring community together and look forward to building more partnerships in the neighborhood. As @MichaelChaney envisions, how cool would it be to have a whole block or two filled with Edible Boulevards?
July Gardens, 2021
Welcome to one of our Northside families joining us and getting their basil in the ground! Nearby, a garden was created and dedicated to Jamar Clark (note the bricks being used for herbs--so cool!). A Little Earth Boulevard Garden was created with containers on a patio, and in Northeast, an Edible Boulevard Garden is in its 3rd year of flourishing.

Our first 2021 garden went in today! For our land impact statement, our participant did some engraving that means "Land of the Dakotah", which you can see, and she spoke to us about the Dakotah land that we are on. We were also taught about the history of the Jordan neighborhood and that it was created when neighbors came together to prevent a library from being closed. It ultimately resulted in the opening of the North Public Library. I can't wait to see the completed Edible Boulevard as I could only stay for the first 40 minutes. It was a beautiful and special start to our season. Shout out to Growing North Minneapolis for being a part of our work too!
2020 GARDENS
Our very first Green Zone Edible Boulevard was created in East Phillips in the summer of 2020 with the help of a Ventura Village volunteer. The other site was done with Little Earth Farm teaching them how to build a raised garden. You can see them both here!
Jordan Area Community Council (Jordan Area Community Council - JACC - Jordan Neighborhood ) was a huge supporter of Edible Boulevards, and we had 6 sites in the Jordan neighborhood. Shout out to Growing North Minneapolis for teaching each of our participants how to make an in-ground garden bed or a raised bed. Looking forward to seeing how their gardens grow this year, while we add a few new sites.
A lot of hands helped build this beautiful garden. Thanks to the gardener for teaching me that we need to be doing a land acknowledgment and allowing people to share anything else about their history that they feel called to say before we dig into the land. That was very powerful.
